The candidates for the '2024 KBO Defensive Award', which selects the best defender by position in professional baseball, have been revealed.
The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) announced on the 7th a total of 166 candidates for the Defensive Award (98 pitchers, 14 catchers, 34 infielders, and 20 outfielders).

The winner is determined by combining 75% of the voting score and 25% of the defensive record score.
Pitchers are eligible for candidacy if they have pitched at least 48 innings, which is one-third of the required innings (144 innings).

Catchers were nominated as candidates if they had played in at least 72 games, which is half of the team's total games.

The defensive records utilize defensive indicators developed in cooperation with Sports Toi, the official KBO record provider.
The official record score that reflects the defense rate and range factor is commonly reflected, and in addition, the pitcher's bunt hit handling and pickoff, the catcher's stolen base prevention rate and blocking rate excluding catcher-involved stolen bases, and the infielder and outfielder's adjusted KUZR (KBO Ultimate Zone Rating) score that adjusts for unrecorded good plays and errors are reflected.
